I plan to use west epoxy to laminate two pieces of this wood together. Is this a good way to do it? .......do I need to thicken the epoxy and how much pressure should I apply when I clamp it?

Thanks for any help

Log onto www.westsystem.com and download (they'll also mail them for free) their product and user's guides. They cover the basic materials, their uses and applications, plus general epoxy, gluing and sheathing information. Most of the major epoxy formulators offer the same thing on their sites.

To answer your questions, yep, you'll want to thicken the batch, but after wetting out the contact surfaces with unthickened goo. Epoxy requires just enough clamping pressure, to keep the parts in alignment and contact, nothing more. In fact too much pressure is bad, as it'll squeeze out the glue, starving the joint.
