Quick question needs quick answer. Aside from engine room, is it required to have a CO2 system inside a genset room with dirty/clean lube oil? Thanks.

It depends on what rules the boat is being built to.
But for IMO HSC Code and SOLAS the genset room would need to be structurallyire protected as it is a defined as a moderate fire hazard.
Again, depends. Recreational boats are not required to have fixed fire fighting systems. On boats carrying passengers for hire, the answer is yes.

Dos it really mater?
Once you spent money on a installation why not fire protect it with CO2?
I'm quite sure CO2 cost less than rebuilding a fire damaged genset room
