I have a '79 Precision Seaforth (24') and have the outboard version which has a hole in the back of the cockpit about 1.5' x 2' wide. It sits right under the tiller. Does anyone else have this design that has found a good method for raising the motor during sailing or even between sails? Taking it all the way out and putting it back in isn't the easiest venture but being in the San Francisco bay, I'm subject to pretty intense currosion otherwise.

Also, given that my 5HP 4 stroke Honda just got a hole in its block from corrosion, I'm now in the market for a new one. Any recommendations on good motors for this boat?

Thanks to any/ all that reply.

I've written about Precision boats on my site. Is this a generic issue? If i were you i'd get in touch with Precision and appeal to there sense of duty to design a simple hoist or system for helping you out. In the meantime wash down you motor (new/old) with fresh water after each trip.

You can see what i wrote about Precisions at http://www.boatpride.com/precision-sailboat.html

I would value your feedback as an owner. :)
