Hi

In the process of designing a Formula 16 type catamaran.
What sort of Cp values should i be aiming for and where should the LCB be?

hmmm, still not working..

(i need to make a couple more posts)

i am designing the boat in maxsurf, but only designing one hull as i want them to be symmetrical. is there an easier way to get 2 hulls in maxsurf (but keep them symmetrical)?

to make a symmetrical cat in maxsurf.

1. Model half the hull.
2. Flip-Copy the hull around the centre line
3. Move the two surfaces out to the new hull CL

For the LCB do a quick weight estimate. There is quite a bit of data over at catsailor on mast weights etc. and then put the LCB in the right place.

Prismatic is a secret and will vary based upon design principles. The DS16 is approx .55 when flying a hull.

Great, that has got me in the right direction.

Steve,

I should point out the DS16 is optimised for sailing one up. So your numbers will probably vary.
