hello all
I am looking for some help on a future project. I am looking to build a small beach cat. Similar to the sail cat, with the pontoons being 12-15 feet each. But I am having trouble. Can anyone offer a fast, cheap solution to building these.
Material, maybe better dimensions, or anything else.
thank you
How about an F12 catamaran.
The DS12 plans are free and it can be built quickly and easily. If you want something bigger look into a Paper Tiger.

Are the DS12 plans really free? If so, where can I get them? Are they downloadable?

Do you know any dimensions of that cat (lenght, width, weight, displacement, sail area)?
I'm also interested in getting those plans.
Best regards
Pulsar
Length: 2.8m
Beam: 2m
Sail area: 7m
weight:50-55kg
target crew weight 50-60kg (a kids boat)
contact me: info (at) ctmd.com.au for FREE plans and more info.
As well as Chris's excellent design a second poster on here (Retired geek) also offers another free F12 design, for more information go over to the catsailor F12 forum.

Chris's design is the first to hit the water but a few of RG's are aso being built, its amazing that two designers are prepared to offer these plans for free to help to bring catamrans to the youth market. They should both be congratulated for there efforts.

There are thousands of posts there! Can you post just one link to the downloadable plans?
There are no downloadable plans, you have to contact either Chris or RG personally to get the plans, just send them a PM on either this forum or the catsailor forum and they will help you.
Read the thread titled "Kiwi F12 pics" to find out about RG's boat
or the thread titled "DS12" to find out more about Chris's boat
Both threads have some interesting build pictures.

Ken and Pulsar, plans are on their way. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you Chris for drawings.
I spend few hours looking on them. As I can see it's fresh design.
I have made freeship model of your hulls and check displacement and draft. Unfortunatly it is not for my weight(100kg).
I wonder if is it possible to rescale that design to 14 feet and bigger displacement? Probably it's not so simple, but I'm not expert.
I'm looking for cat which is:
-very light(not more than25kg for each hull)
-not longer than 14 feet
-can be easily trasported on car roof
-small draft
-simple to connect in one piece.
Is there anybody who knows other interesting catamarans design (besides cats like DUO425, F12 or four hulls X-cat, which are quite know and described on that forum)?
Is idea of dividing one hull for two parts to be lighter and easier two trasport has any sense?
Best regards
Pulsar
Pulsar,
I don't have time to do a re-design for you. I'd suggest looking into Paper Tigers, I think they'll fit you needs.
Chris.

Here's a plug for Richard's beach cats. They're very well thought out, in my opinion. I've seen excerpts from Pixie's plans, and I learned a lot from them.
