Hi,
I'm new to the forum and hoping I'm in the right spot to get some wisdom related to "hybrid" (DE or Battery) solutions. My diesel engine recently gave up and I figure this would be a good opportunity to explore both routes to repower.
I honestly don't know where to start in terms of determining what my setup would look like but have quickly realized there 1) are few obvious solutions and 2) few people with the expertise to install/help install.
Other key information that might be helpful:
- Vessel is a 30' Sundowner trawler
- 5cyl 70hp motor (dead) with max HP at the shaft 67 @ 4500 RPM; max torque (ft/lbs) 90 @ 3000 RPM
- My cruise is 7 knots at 2800-3000k
- Use is in and around the Puget Sound, 40% on the hook 60% marina. Occasional long distance cruise (i.e. Desolation Sound, San Juans, etc.)
Thanks advance for any information out there . . .I've seen a lot in terms of sailing solutions and yachts but nothing for the little guy like me.
