Has anyone any experience of fitting a water jet into a sail boat. I would not normally bother with an engine but admit that they can be useful in mariners, picking up moorings etc. I am thinking of electric power and a fixed jet unit, steering will use boats rudder. The unit will be to fit in a 15m aluminium displacement cruiser. Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks

this was done on ProVu, a racing sailing F40 trimaran with 60 hp jet from a jet ski
Noise was more like a reactor...So in an aluminium boat !!!!
Miles per gallon very low
reverse motion close to zero

Only advantage was low weight and high speed (11Knts for this 2 tons F40)
Was taken off and outboard came back
