Is anyone has an experience for applying the turner's theory ?

Yes, in free-sailing model yachts. It works, but nobody seems to know why. Turner's own explanation is, to say the least, dubious. PM me with your email if you'd like a paper on the topic.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. There's plenty of evidence that it works on full-size boats. I've only used it personally on models.

With one exception, everything I found in several years of searching is listed in the bibliography of the paper. The exception is a very rare (and lovely) book called "Faithful Fidelis," written by Frank J. Welch and privately printed in 1980. This is the story of "Fidelis," the first full-size boat built to Turner's method of design. She was built in 1930 and won ocean races for decades thereafter. In the book, Welch reprints the following paper:
"The Secret of 'Balance' in Yacht Design" subtitled "The Metacentric Shelf: What it Means and How it is Found." Yachting Monthly, November 1933. Author listed as "F.J.W.," clearly Frank J. Welch. As a result of this paper a measure similar to the Metacentric Shelf is sometimes called the "Welch Axis."

Earl

Hello,
Will you be so kind to simply send the amount available on this famous Turner's subject at this public glance ?
I have a pretty interest in that field as well.
Thank you in advance.
Kindly.

Hi, is the Turner theory the same as the Metacentric shelf theory?? If so you may be interested in looking at some of Robert Clarks early designs, particularly his Mystery Class, as these were designed according to that theory and were renowned as extremly well balaced boats as well as being fast.

Yes, Turner called his theory the Metacentric Shelf.
