hi all. another new guy here. so far this looks to be a great forum with a wealth of knowledge. i hope to learn much and contribute when i can.

i do have a question though.. it's about a fuel tank. i recently inherited an SP Sheet Metal 300 gal. aluminum fuel tank. i don't have a clue about these so... but it was made in 88, gas/diesel, 5052 aluminum, model f-0041. does anyone know anything about SP Sheet Metal tanks? thanks!

because the boat was never finished when he passed away.

with it being 20 years old, could it still be used? or should i just take it to the scrap yard?

If you consider the number of ally aircraft built in the early part of the last century and still about anf some still in use ally is a tough material check welds and the body of the tank for pin holes

i honestly don't know. he bought a burned out "hull" basically. he planned to rebuild it back to it's old glory. i think it was 42 or 44 ft. long. the hull is long gone now too. it was cut up and hauled to the dump.

Sailboat ?. Are you looking for a project boat?

no, he intended to use it for cod/haddock fishing in the atlantic. i'm not looking for a project, no. this is all stuff that he had accumulated to rebuild the boat. i've just been going through some of it. i don't know what most of it is or if it's worth anything or if it should just be scrapped or junked.

Presumably worth much more you dare to think. That is you happen to find the right guy needing the stuff...

I've found myself sometimes on website where's a lot of both new and oldie boat parts etc for sale. Just haven't bookmarked them, but maybe some Googling helps? And there's allways Ebay..
