Penetrol To Polish?

We just bought a boat that is badly oxidized and need to find the best and of course the easiest way to restore the finish. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Also I read a post where someone basically spilled Penetrol on there boat and to make a long story short they now swear by it to remove oxidization and restore the finish of gelcoat. Has anyone heard of, or had any experience with using this product in this way?
