Hi i'm Boonbeest
im 24 years old and i'm from Belgium
my original hobby is cartuning
i customize my car myself
and my original car is a citroen C4
http://users.pandora.be/siboonbeest/dimic4underconstruction/c4dimi.JPG
this is how it is nowhttp://users.pandora.be/siboonbeest/shootmetjones/6.JPG
now because you always have to be special in cartuning and i work a lot with glassfiber my idea is making a boat in same colours of the car
lost of shiny stuff in the boat.
the boat i"m gonna make is always on a trailer so its not my idea to get him in the water.
so a showboat
14.76 feet long
4.86 feet wide.
no how am i starting for a boat with an outside motor that i"m going to polish ?
i mean the skelet of the boat. Are there any pictures of soms skelets for a small speetboad ?
grtz
and thx

Why so small ?
A show boat in my opinion is a proper sized boat someone can walk on and on which you can experience some on water, safely and with other people.
At 15 feet what would be a small fresh water boat and if you walk on it it better be moored to the side or you're wet :D
Have a google for speed boats, there are hordes of them. Starting a boat is easy because that's in your mind, but actually making one is not so simple, and making one that works properly is also something else entirely. Ask anyone here that has built any kind of boat.
Personally I'm not into shiny glittery stuff. I won't comment on it since you may be offended.
If I was at your age now, I'd do a lot different... one of them would be not wasting time and money on such a small rig and I'd be more carefull of women :D
Do have a look around the forum, there's some stunning stuff here !!

its only for on the trailer
not for on the wather

Seems such a waste, all that money, work and time.
Just draw a nice boat life side on a board and put it behind the car and take pictures.

I've seen boats that I would be afraid to put in the water. Is this the sort of boat you are talking about? One with a huge engine with chrome all over it? One that would be bouncing up in the air more than it would be touching the water? If so, then I think you should not put it in the water also. Then by all means, I'm with you, keep it on the trailer.

look tuning up a car is a way of a lifestyle
my car i drive with it but it has to shine constantely.
There are people with quads , bikes ,motorcycles behind there car
in same colour of it
and yes only for show and meetings.
thats a hobby like some people do in a bar is drinking
well my way of hobby is working with glassfiber.
so my car is almost finished outside
so i"m going to start with a boat.
the only thing i need to start with it is a push in the back
for the making off.
so somebody please
who has an example of a wooden skelet of a boat.
thx

Well, your car is still basically a Citroen?
I would go for a smaller already existing 14-15 ft boat with "lines" if you get my meaning (read this as goodlooking). No outboard, I would go for a waterjet. No outboard, no fixed shaft axel (Waterjet looks a bit more "fun", and places a bit lower on a trailer, looks better). Then, if the engine is a useless piece of crap, you can pull that out, and leave the waterjet sticking out (and a boat like that should go cheap...). And that can then still be a useable boat, if you get an engine later...
You can still get your share of glassfiberwork, and paintjobs.... believe me.
But If you still want a wooden boat to work, shape and glass;

Click the link at the top of the page for the Boat Design Gallery. There are some interesting boats, particularly in the Student Design section.

Yes, Wally. He will post photos of his art-boat when it's done, methinks. He found examples on how to acheive a shape (the skeletpictures = photos of frames).
Unless, of course, I didn't get what you meant, Wally?

What was he on about?? anybody know??
He gave us a background perspective by way of introduction. He was looking for a cool boat shape - it seems he doesn't intend to float it, just haul it around behind his cool car.
Poor kids can't install full-race cams, wide whitewalls, and full fender skirts these days.
Clever 'glass guy, though - hope he sticks around.

OK! But maybe he's in the wrong place - boony you want the ART forum, here we tend to build boats to USE (i'e' they are designed to float and go places) if that is an alien concept you deffinately should be in the ART section -or at least "sectioned"!
Don't forget what ever you do is for you -enjoy!! Just don't expect others to come and pull you out of the poo if you use it unwisely!!

it will be strong enough to usen dude.
nor problemo
the only thing i don"t use is a coating probably
for the rest it will be strong enough
don't be scared.
if i see real boots @ sea
mine will be stronger from thickness of polyester and stuff.

I'm not quite understanding you here; Under the boat, you will normally only find more boat, at least if you're lucky (I've seen a couple of boats where you could see the steering from below, but they were either crashed (fatal injuries) or in production. It will help if you have an idea of what propulsion your considering (outboard, inboard, waterjet or fixed shaft).

no man
i need the system
so your steeringwheel goes left
so your boat to
so i need a drawing or picture of the system
so from the steering wheel true the motor or something that turns your boat.
i need the design of an inside motor or an outside motor
DanishBagger

Boon,
He's telling you that boats can be steered in a lot of ways. That the steering-system itself depends on what type of propulsion is used, as there are many ways to do this, and depending on the propulsion, they will differ quite significantly.
Take a look at a jet drive for instance, and then take a look at a sailboat, just to give you an idea.

yeah ok
but i'm 100 km away from a boatyard.
so i can"t see from here.
so when i have a outside motor
what do i do
i let the motor go left or right
or what ?
its because i'm doughting what i'm going to make.
inside motor
or outside motor
in a sailboat you have a vertical plate in the wather that u move by hand
so does the motor goes left or right
or do i have to make a plate
for a kind of speedboat ?
grtz
and
thx

Yup, an ordinary outboard-powered boat usually steers by just making the outboard move left or right.
A jet drive, afaik, uses a nozzle to steer the water stream, instead of moving the propeller.
A sailboat usually uses a quadrant (a piece of a circel) attached to the steering column in order to get "oomph", just like the bigger motorboats. You can use hydraulics, wires, electrics and any combination along with a variety of pumps to acheive this.

k thx
that is what i needed to know
i still have a lot of questions
but with my drawing
i now came to the steering wheel.
ok
maybe a stupid question
but if it rains.
theres water in the boat.
how do you do this
whit a pump or ?

Most cockpits (on anything but the smallest boats) are self-draining. There are a couple of ways to acheive this, and a number of way to not do it. But if you do a search (both a web search and an image-search) on "self-draining cockpit", you should be able to see what it takes. However, if you're realy adamant about not putting this boat into the water, you really just need free passage and a drain in the lowest part of the boat. Also, you might want a tarp, if the hole becomes plugged.
Small dinghys usually just have a drain plug you can unscrew, only plugging it in when you go for a sail/ride/drive. That's certainly the cheapest way: A hole.
Real boats do have pumps. But then again, your boat won't be able to "sink" in anyhing but mud, so I'd forego the pumps.

I'll nag again here.... nag nag...
Have you been checking for existing boats avalable, like I mentioned, a small one, with a waterjet. WJ' are fun, can go from 30+ knots to a complete halt in 1,5 the length of the boat (then you're probably, suddenly alone in the boat...:D When legs hit the front seat, flipspin over the bow - completely pricless... You have no more fun than what you create yourself ).
The learning curve will probably be a lot more efficient, when you start with an actual boat.
Look forward to drawing or mock-up though. :D
