Not in USA (an Australian Coy) but this may give a general understanding http://www.outbackmarine.com.au/MasterPages/LineDetail/LineDetail.asp?LineID=1 For the low volt circuits (12 or 24 volt) I would look to fusing each task at the bus-bar and where you would switch that item on or off... Do the inspection and make your choices...

Outback marine have heaps of online help and ideas using their products (240v AC is NOT suitable for USA)

Make sure to ground the negative ground to a shared plate on the outside of the hull underwater-do this with all systems, even if they have different voltages. If you use lightning grounding, that goes to the plate, too.

Kevin Jeffrey wrote a 3 part series of articles for Multihulls Magazine a while back in which he described wiring for multihulls, from simple to complex, including sample diagrams. I will try to find out which issues they were in.

first take a look at http://newboatbuilders.com/pages/elect.html Near the bottom of the page are some sample wiring diagrams. One is for an auxiliary sail boat.

Then get one of the following books. I recommend Nigel Calders
Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual, by Nigel Calder
The 12 Volt Bible, by Miner K Brotherton and Ed Sherman
Boating Magazine's Powerboater's Guide to Electrical Systems by Ed Sherman
Sailboat Electrical Systems, Don Casey, 1999 International Marine
Boatowner's Illustrated Handbook of Wiring, by Charlie Wing
Your Boat's Electrical System, by Conrad Miller and E. S. Maloney
Managing 12 Volts, Harold Barre 1997 Summer Breeze Publishing
