LPD ship? Unfamiliar with the abbreviation, but is it something like this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Duluth_%28LPD-6%29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_class_amphibious_transport_dock
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphibious_transport_dock
Seem like a type full of any variation you like.
Sorry can't help any further.

There is no need to cut up on someone who tried to help you with your question. If you want specific information, ask for that instead of a very generally phrased question.
If your just here to cut up on people, save the space for people who actually want to hear what others have to say, and join a chatroom.

Ok. Not only me that found that reply rude, then... thought first that it was a language problem, English isn't my native language.
I was unfamiliar with the abbreviation, therfore I suspected I would not be the only one, hence the links.
However; If you open your eyes, to some of the information:
Austin class was in 1960's then Cleveland, then Trenton, and now finally San Antonio class. That's a span of 50 years. A pretty old system, so you should (at least I would) believe it would be phased out, but there are ordered 12, even though only 9 will probably be built (to replace 41 older vessels). Make some graphs; no of landing crew/ no. of operating crew/ landing wehicles/ types; increasing or decreasing? tells you what types of conflict scenarios politicians are preparing for...
It would help if you wrote something about your thesis, you would then not attract silly answers from us ignorants and unsophisticated people.
All of these are LPD's and the design/ shape have been altered in the 50 year span. So you will have to be (much) more specific with your question.
Same goes for the weaponry, now they probably can hook up with local internet and screw the local information flow...Throw in a radio/ TV station. I would also throw in a couple of remote operated, armed, fast going vessels/ wehicles. (easier to order a new one than sending regret letters to the family). Weapons have changed dramatically in this period. So which weapon do you need information about? Stones/ Slings/ AK47/ M60?
If you look it up, you may find some names, writers of articles, and then a search and a direct phone will probably give you better answers.

Too much sophisticated info floating about in the internet about sophisticated weaponry systems I would not expect to find.... You should be able to figure that out.
And; you were rude, not only to me... :-)
and Kach22i, I checked; It's out of stock....(****, Design probably based upon a old motorcycle helmet I once had).

Cool toy Kach & yeah reads rude to me too. Years ago as an apprentice I had to build a scale ship model in case for a retiring admiral, I had very limited plans to work from but my foreman would arrange "excursions" in the duty boat for me to do sketches of various aspects of launching systems etc in a semi covert kinda way, lucky I was in the right kind(painted grey) of boat etc or I might of got locked up or shot for some sort of subvertive activity, so in my broad & sofisticated experience of naval weaponry information gathering the best way to get it is to go have a look & see how you go these days, could be exciting! All the best in your endeavours from Jeff.

I don't want to help the Turks invade another Greek island, but do want to talk about this topic from a design perspective. Maybe our new member "awermedia " will lighten up and humor us after the rough start.
Korea and Japan have built versions of the LCAC air cushion vehicle and it's mother ship carrier which we will call a "modern LPD ".
FYI: The Turks do have the largest standing army in Europe (or next to Europe as you may see it). They are gaining much technical expertise from Israel as well via their arms trades. It will be interesting to see which direction these assets take them in the future.

I believe LPD stands for Landing Platform Dock Jim.
Hoi there, think you're right on that.
LPD usually, stands for Low Possibility of Detection, I thougt that was common knowledge....(hark..)
We also have Lycy in the Sky with Diamonds....

A task force of cowboying, sheriffing, gunslinging Americans stands ready to aid the tens of thousands suffering in Burma, but the pissant nutbar dictators running the country are unwilling to allow anything that might loosen their grip on the country.

Well, main problem, Arrangement of anything onboard is going to vary by the type of support mission. It can carry tanks, APC's, LAPC, Humvee's and so-on so forth. There would probably be no standard arrangement. The same would go for any onboard aircraft. It will completely depend as has been said before, on the type of support role it will play.
