has anyone tried to use Trex plastic decking material to make rubrails or toerails on a boat?

Do you know what kind of plastic trex is?

I believe it is polyethylene.....recycled plastic bags and wood chips

I think recycled polyethylene would work well for rub rail. The stuff should melt at about 110 deg C, you should be able to mold it at a lower temperature.

It would work for some applications sometimes. Complications include fairly radical thermal growth. You can't trap the ends and the fastener system will have to let it move. I'm interested in solutions if any of you guys have some.
