Sounds like a great time "bashing about"

Hello...
How the hell I got into doing ten footers - God only knows - 14 was my magic number for a long time - I blame Clod'...
Just now redoing the Defiant to same...
As for boat names - how about Odysee - or Odd Sea - ah...:)
This next boat is being saved as 'COFFIN' - going to need a Jolly Roger...:)
Why do I do this again - I have asked my wife and she just gives me a blank stare - why do we 'design' boats - what good can possibly come of this crank hobby...
As per WIND - 'what we are doing here is not about saving the world - it is just good clean fun' - I should find that clip and post it up...

Hello,
You can blame me for the 10 footers if you like but you're the one who's addicted to designing boats.:P My addiction/obsession changes every few months.
Last summer I had a problem with whirlygigs. Thankfully there was an intervention and I am fine now.;)
Best,
Chris

Hello...
I think us ADS guys dodged the bullet because we had digested too much information and knew how to fake out the doctors who are thick and dull and can remain focused on one thing due to being thick and dull...:)
Boats are an engineering muck about - a relatively simple machine that has to fuction in a envelope of two very seperate media - air and water - a fantastic problem...
They can be cheap - they can be million dollar abortions of both physics and taste...
Boats are cool...
So are 5 dollar balsa chuck gliders...
Just good clean fun...:)
You can see the vision in Lindberg - he put all his money into the 'Spirit' - he wore shoes that were cheap and old - his suit was pathetic - his frame is slight - he flew on a bag of sandwiches - his eyes are tired - BUT HE DID IT - HE DID IT...
Today - some muck doctor would ground him...
We have become weak and predictable...

Hi kids,
Boats are, to a woodworker, one of the greatest challenges, like building a violin.
Because of their complexity, design restrictions, and the fact that they HAVE TO WORK, they attract people who are not frightened of creative thinking.
Also, boat building is the oldest craft. Maybe older than violin making.
It's true that we have created a world cluttered with rules, restrictions, drugs that keep us content to sit in front of the TV when we aren't WORKING. Most of us don't have the time, the money, or energy to try something different but in reality that's a crock of shiet. Lindberg got off his arse and set an example that cannot be ignored.
You are right Sean, It doesn't matter what you do so long as you aren't afraid to DO IT!
Cheers,
Chris

Great link Sean! Who'da thunk it.
I've been in my shop all morning building the saw horses to hold up all the frame work for "I Digress". The shop is 12' x 12', It's gonna be a tight fit.
