All finishes are a matter of prep, not chemistry. Cutters and polishes are nothing more then abrasives (very fine of course) intended to remove small imperfections in the surface. They will not make a smooth surface, but will knock down very small high spots, brush marks, spray gun stipple and small scratches or other defects left over from the smoothing process.

If you have a smooth surface and want to make it slippery, then Teflon based waxes can help, which can be burnished every so often to keep them slick. Some paints suggest their Teflon additives will do the same thing.

I've found elbow grease and fresh wax, applied carefully is the slickest bottom coating, but the bottom has to be really fair and smooth for the full benefit to be realized.
