I am considering homebuilding a Mini 6.5.

Materials - What would be an economical light weight combination other than the exotic Epoxy/carbon/kevlar foam combinations

Mold - I have looked at split hull molding to reduce weight in the construction. No need for a deck hull joint. Bulk of the joint is below the water. Could the boat be molded in one piece? Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated

I have built a Plywood/frp skinned boat in the past. How difficult would it be to vaccuum mold?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Reddy,

you might want to have a look at Dudley Dix' Mini 6.5 (http://dixdesign.com/didimini.htm) which has a radius chine plywood hull.

Thank you for responses. I am thinking more of a one off FRP hull and FRP/foamdeck and coach house over the plywood designs.

hi dodgy_designer, this boat is built in fiberglass, the designer is Juan Miguel Garcia de la Huerta from www.astilleronos.cl in Chile, and he invented an patented a breakthrough construction method which combines a lot of experience in wooden stripped plank construction and fiberglass construction, if you would like to contact him you can check his email address in the web page witch I designed myself and unfortunately I haven’t translated to English yet

Greetings from Chile

Max
