Hi All,

I am curious about how I can determine where to place the seams in a hull. If I remember correctly I should use lines that are sort of perpendicular to the curvature on the frames and make sure that the curvature isn't too much in the outside direction? Is this correct?

And next is it then possible to use the isolines on the hull to do this? It looks to me as that they are perpendicular to the curvature.

perhaps some extra information might be needed: it is a roundbilge hull for a sailyacht to be built in steel. It is a 40 foot yacht. Further more is there any information anywhere available on this topic, for example which width of a plate is acceptable for forming, what is the max curvature that can be formed? Essentially any information on this topic will help.

Any replies are welcome!
