4 years have past since my rowing days and i would like to get back into the sport. since i am mechanically inclined i would like to try and build my own rowing shell. my questions for you guys are: how hard is it, about how much would it cost, and how many hours would a simple recreational rowing shell take to build?

i have done my fair share of wood working (chairs, desks, table, ect) so i feel comfortable in starting a project like this. any input will be greatly appreciated.

I typed "rowing shell kit" into Google: This was the first site. It might give you a first clue.

Been 55 years since I rowed. It was the hardest work I've ever done. Haven't forgot the blisters either. The blisters! - oh God the blisters!

I've been a Fly fisherman all my life and have rowed half way around the world in various small boats. I liked rowing.

Get something that has a open storage area in front of your seat.

Also, have you noticed the Rowing machines in the Exercize rooms?
The Seat slides back and forth with you as you row.
How about that for making a go-fast rowing boat?

Post a photo of the plans you select.

ive spent a lot of time on the rowing machines in gyms. when i was at the top of my game i could row 2,000 meters (a benchmark test) in just over 6 minutes and 20 seconds. as for storage on the boat there wont be much as im planning on a mix of a racing shell and a recreational shell.

this is what the pics look like. but it is on hold for the time being as i am moving to a new house and just traded my silverado for a volvo s60

though ill use a little bit of dark green paint on the top to make it look better IMO
