I bought the study plans for this Kurt Hughes design. After I discovered I could get some really good deals on epoxy I started to think about using carbon fiber or kevlar instead of s glass for the laminate. I want to use the boat for cruising and club racing, and I hope to race it in the Chicago Mac race as well as Key West after I figure out how to make it go.

Any suggestions on what foam core and what cloth to use in order to get the best weight/value ratio?

Raps, I thought I'd try posting the pix; nice looking boat. Why don't you go with the designers recomendations....

I haven't received that info yet; I'm sure he has all of the materials figured out. I was just wondering if using carbon instead of s glass would be worth the cost.

I saw a Warwick 32 foot trimaran built in carbon instead of s glass and the bruce number was reduced by 1.

Doug, the image may have somehow been named as it appears - with "image" in brackets. This then won't be recognized as an image file.
Try opening it on your computer, right clicking it and then renaming it psp504.jpg
Best
