Hello all.
I'm looking into the feasability of a Top Trumps style card game and need full colour photos and data about narrowboats on todays canals.
The project is really for a bit of fun and a chance for you to record your current boat for future posterity. What I need is:
a good-quality full colour photo of your boat (best side showing!!)
BW registration number
date of manufacture
length of boat (in feet and inches)
draught of boat (in inches)
engine horse power
number of births (fixed and make up)
average number of (full) weeks cruising per year you do
a little descriptive bit about you, your boat etc.
permission to use your photos/data for the card sets, permission to edit descriptive text to fit the cards, permission to digitally enhance images (such as remove scuffs, rust marks etc).
As I said, the cards are really just a bit of fun - originally a novelty gift idea for friends and family - , but UK-based card manufacturers have quite high minimum limits (around 500 packs) for a print run, so I would hope to offer the cards for sale in marinas/canalside shops around the country to try to recoup the cost of manufacture.
Anyone who replies and whose boat is consequently used in the game will receive a free complimentary pack of playing cards.
Please note: this is not a scam or some unscrupulous way of making money from your hard work! I too am a canal boat enthusiast and would like the opportunity to put an idea into practice.
Still interested? Please email pictures/boat info to edusoft99@aol.com
Many thanks
Chris
