I'm building a shellback and can't find a measurement for the overlap - 1 " 3/4" ???? The manual mentions filling in the space with epoxy/fillet material - completely filled or with a small radius? Any help much appreciated.

Gray Duck,

I see no one has responded yet. If nothing comes up soon just post again.

Glued lapstrake is not my forte. Wooden Boat magazine I think has some books available on the subject. They ran a multi issue arcticle once on a ply lapstrake design by Ian Outhred (sp?). This boat was epoxy and glass sheathed.

Try the forum search function also. It may prove helpful.

Like I said, post again in need be. There are people here that can help. Your post must have slipped past them.

In small craft, under say 17 - 18' then 3/4" is fine, usually. The general rule is 3 times the planking thickness. A little less on racers, maybe 2.5 times the planking thickness.
