I will spend some time going threw that list. Ive always loved some of the contemporary designs of the boats overseas. In Norway the Hydrolift line is nice I have always thought. Very practical layout.Thanks. James

But you might want to optimize your HTML coding so that it looks like you want it to in browsers other than MS Explorer. Doesn't look so nice with Firefox.

KCook, the details that you have posted are a good start, but as someone who runs a boat business in England, may I suggest that you look at the British Marine Federation site at :

www.britishmarine.co.uk

where you will find listings of the 1000 companies which are members. Probably 250 of them are boat builders in the UK.
Also for a world perspective I can recommend looking at the International Boating Industry News site at

www.ibinews.com

which is a great site and well worth registering with for a look at boating markets around the world.

Looks like a good list, unfortunately there seem to still be some CSS/HTML glitches to work out before all of it is legible. Looking forward to the final version :)

Those marine sites are outstanding Hugh. However, the focus for my project was different. I wanted my site to be a quick-look at builder links for Europe. So deliberately limited it to a single page. No intention of building up a full blown research tool like those marine sites. (I'm too lazy for that)

Matt, it works Ok on my MS IE6. What browser are you using?

Shows up more or less OK in Opera 8 with some alignment errors; some lines are overlapped/illegible in Firefox 2. In the world of Internet design, writing solely for IE is considered a huge no-no as IE is not fully compliant with accepted format and protocol standards.

Thank you for the info Matt. The Firefox fans on other sites just blasted me without describing the actual issue. At this point I doubt I'm angry enough to qualify for Firefox ownership <joke>! It was never my intention to "write only for IE", that just seems to be what my site builder spewed out. I downloaded the one from CoffeeCup -

Spent some time today searching around for some sort of "tidy" or "validation" program that would check for Firefox compatibilty. But no luck so far.

Raggi_Thor, I almost may as well have thrown darts! I never get to Europe, so will never get to see these for myself. But I am interested in boat design, and some of the popular types in Europe are not seen here in the US. So I have been searching out builder sites. And lurking for a while on the YBW forums. Eventually built up a largish list of links. Thought it would be fun to share those. Ok, I was a bit selective, did not show every single link I found. Left off were some very specialized and some very tiny builders. For example, I showed only a few RIB builders, and no "narrow boats" ...

Love the looks of Aquador, Nimbus, Nord West, etc!!!

Very cool Kelly, It is so easy to get lost in boats. Just when you think you are checking out all options here comes some more that you didn't even think of.

I agree, the best of the Italian sport yachts can't be beat. But the Italians have their clinkers as well. Surprising how some Italian builders use designers with Florida addresses!

If only we could see more of these over here in the US. But with the $ exchange where it is, good luck.
