I ran across this place today doing some research on rudder design. Looking forward to reading and following this site, maybe adding to the discussion.

Welcome aboard, Booker.

A dog, a good woman, a few boats .... and you want more?

Greedy bastard!! :D :D :D

Just kidding. This is a good place, and the observations of a NA will be welcome.

G'day Rudder

You'll get lots of help on this site.

Like I can help you with the rudder thing.

It's a flappy thing at the back of the boat that makes you do turns.

Although some of the people on this forum are idiots and say really stupid things.

Poida,

Thank you, my friend.

I've wondered for years what those flappy things hanging off the back end of boats were for, but I was too embarassed to ask. :)

Thanks.

I'd love a Parker 2520 XLD with a single 250 HP yanmar or similar diesel outdrive. Otherwise, a lafitte or reno skiff hull (south Louisiana shrimp boat) about 30 feet long. I'd power and outfit it for overnight trips. In the long run, I'd like a Grand Banks 42' classic.

Yeah, I'll get right on that.

Thanks, and no, her two sisters are spoken for. I got the pick of the litter, though.:)

You see, there's the problem. I was trying to fit them on the bow.

Not this time Trev. Retreated before the weather. Scuttled home while we could. High winds, rain, hail, floods...Reminded me of Scotland in mid-summer....:)

Thought you got back rather quick Berg.

Talked to my sister in Akron, OH, about 2.5 hrs. NNW from here. She said they had golfball sized hail. Thankfully the same front had lost gusto by the time it got here.
