And how long distance long distance is? Particulars, mate, are what makes the world go round. Also knowing what it is going to be used for would help.

It would just be for private use: holidays etc so needs to be comfortable. Long distance - trans atlantic crossings. And in terms of speed I just want to be able to make the crossing quickly without compromising comfort, say 35 - 50 knots. Thanks for the help Grant, some of those designs look good.

Crossing atlantic at 50 kts.

Estimated burn = 10 000 l fuel per hour. (around 400 tons of fuel burned for the record crossing ). Average speed 53 kts.

For mere mortals, either you slow down to 7-12 kts to cross atlantic (and even at 12 kts, the price is to be counted in million €) , or you stay at 30-50 kts, but cross the channel, not the atlantic.

The cruise version has a limited range of 1500 nm. Not enougth to cross atlantic.

oh to have the money to be able to afford monsters like those:) . how about hydrofoils? They can achieve faster speeds and are obviously more fuel economic.

There needs to be a good reason to cross the Atlantic in your own motorboat and to do it in a 50kt motorboat, you need a really, really good reason and a really, really big bank account. The later will be really, really small after you get there and you won't be able to afford the alimony demanded by your wife if she is aboard for the trip.:D

In terms of motor cruising, this is 3 sigma stuff. The abilities of such a boat will be completely wasted anywhere else. On the other hand, if you have the required "right stuff", go for it:cool:
