Hi,
This my first post. I am building a Bruce Roberts Spray 22. Both my plans on were I will be sailing and a better understanding of this design windward character, has got me thinking about redesigning the keel for better windward performance. I will be sailing for now and the forseable future on High altitude lakes in the western US, mainly Utah.
I am thinking about shortening the keel about six inches and adding fore and aft bilgeboards. This I would hope would give the boat good windward performance and reduce the wetted surface area. What do you all think?
Bill
