I need a new ultrasonic thickness tester.

If anyone has aquired one recently I'd be interested to know what you paid and how you're getting on with it. The old ones needed calibration before each reading, hoping the new ones are a bit more stable.

We can get an Asian brand "Ultrathick" for $1500, great marketing name :)

I found the same machine direct from Asia for $360USD plus postage. Works well.

Getting a little off topic but what is the device I've seen marine surveyors use that measures the moisture content in a fibreglass hull?
They just seem to hold it against the hull and take a reading.
Are these devices 1/ Accurate 2/ Expensive 3/ A worthwhile thing to have?

Its called a moisture meter. Accurate enough, worth having if you want to watch your moisture levels. Have a read of the posts in the thread below.
