ABS-LLOYD's-SCANTLING

Good morning guys,
I'm looking for a software that can help the designer to do a general scantling of a boat (sail or motor), any material (metal or composite). I think the most appreciate register are ABS 1995 for sailboat and the Lloyds for boat till 80 feet. Where can I find a software that help me to save time and generate quick results?

I think you'll find Lloyd's SSC, or anyone else's software for that matter, is rather expensive for a bit of playing around. Unless you're a professional, you're probably going to be a lot better off getting a hard copy of any of the rules (by following the links posted above) and go through it by hand. Might take some time though...

I have often thought this would be an interesting task for a joint effort in Excel :-) I could write some formulas from DNV's rules for small craft and others could add from Lloyds and ABS.

Onestly I think ABS is the best register in the wordl,but require more time than others. I made some Excel spreadsheet for DNV,Iso,Rina, but take a lot of time. What you know about Lloyd's SSC?

if you would like to share your spredsheets we could review check and build on them as Raggi suggests above, a community effort would be a good idea.

There is a special area on the forum for spreadsheets under the software thread you can download and post there.

ABS and DNV are the most common smaller vessel standards but DNV is going to adopt ISO when it becomes fully accepted. In Australia we can use any of the accepted standards including our own USL. I find Lloyds the least usefull and DNV the most actively supported around the world.

Denmark publishes a construction guide for vessels under 20 m aimed at boat yards which is comprehensive and straight foreward.

Vacanti design sells a program for $120 USD which produces scantlings to the ABS rules.

They all produce very similar results.

What you know about Lloyd's SSC?

I know they produce a nice piece of software that's pretty staightforward and relatively flexible. Bit pricey though, certainly more than $120...

Abs by Vacanti cost 125us$, but it's seams a little bit old (I asked info to know if carbon fiber, UD,Aramat laminate are included)

Mike, I couldn't find the forum area you told me, please insert link. I think Abs, DNv are the best and quite used here in Europe, but the Abs keep some time to manage.
Do you have experience about the scantling of keel/keel plate, I'm talking how dimension the inner plate/structure that keep the bulb? Any idea how to do it?

In internet there are many similar software, but not free offcourse.
