Why delete questionable pornogarphy?

If some sort of pornographic posting finds it's way onto this forum, and it is being dealt with a high degree of wit and humour where is the harm in leaving it on the forum for a reasonable time?
After all, the postings ensuing after the "Big Tits" posting were far cleverer and had more relevance to boating than the incessant demented postings by Doug Lord that anything and everything that is capable of floating should be fitted with lifting hydrofoils. I feel that it is short sighted to eliminate what was a stimulus for interesting commentary that was definitely boating related but witty for the sake of some moral correctness. I say so what? Is this degrading this fine forum any more than the poor unfortanate Doug Lord has already degraded this forum?

I cant believe this is even bieng discussed. For people who need to see this kind of thing it is just as easy to find it as it is to find the boat forum, if not easier.

Meh. It's fun to blow off steam every once in awhile. And better to do it to anonymous strangers than to your family and friends! :P

I agree with deleting porn- not because I'm against porn, but because these people are trying to leach free advertising from sites which we enjoy. It is disrupting and it is a theft of bandwidth.

The only thing I think moderators should do differently is, while deleting an offending post, leave the poster's IP address visible so any hackers on the board can have their fun with them. :)

Believe me, I have never visited a porno site on the net in my life and it isnt because I can't afford the few dollars needed to get in. The only sex that I ever viewed on the computer was when my wife who was a computer beginner was learning to use the net for the first time. She got Internet Explorer up and typed in SEX on google and pressed search.
The next thing that happened was that there was an animated video of a couple going at it, hammer and tongs. She called me over after a suitable period of staring at the screen and asked me what to do next!

The point is that I have a friend that sends me very clever and sometimes raunchy jokes and pictures from his wide circle of friends. I feel guilty that I never have any thing to send back to him.
Then a fantastic opportunity arises with the sudden coming of "BIG TITS" Then there were some clever postings and when I came out to the computer at 3 AM as I am an insomniac, and invented what I considered the " piece de resistance" of creative witty stuff; (sorry for pissing into my pants); I thought that in in morning I would send the whole thread, nice pics, the lot to my friend as a reward for all the times he sent me emails.
By 9 AM it had disappeared without a trace.
Is there no place I can access it now? After all, I am hardly a sexual pervert!

I teach boatbuilding to high school children. Can you imagine what would happen if they or my boss found this stuff on the computer??? What do you think the IT guys would do if they saw a cached picture like that??? If the content is going that way then I am going!!

Deleting the thread was a good call, I did miss the humor which followed my post. Was it good?

If it were not for the name of the poster perhaps the images alone could of been deleted and the humor remain.

There are high school aged people posting, let's keep it clean.

Like I said, might be more fair in some cases to delete the questional picture than the whole thread.

My point in posting the “girly pictures” above was to demonstrate that even a dedicated boat site maybe infiltrated by sexually suggestive materials. If these materials are offensive to you, then I suggest you get off the Internet immediately and locate your self to a religiously strict commune or female repressive muslin nation of your choice.
