PU over metallic paint

I'm thinking of spraying the hull topsides using metallic paint and polyurethane clear coat over that (Interspray 800 glaze coat).

Has someone done similar paint scheme? Is that two different based paints compatible with each other and what metallic base is the best for the job?
...and what durability I should expect?
The base for the scheme is epoxy primer.

Most cars are painted with a basecoat/clearcoat combination. Buy two compatibles paints from the same manufacturer and it won't be a problem.

One important caveat:

If you go to the auto paint store and ask for base coat paint for a base/clear job, you may be directed to buy a type of basecoat paint which is essentially a modified lacquer paint. DON"T BUY IT!! While that system works fine on cars, it does not hold up on boats.

The auto paint store will have polyurethane paint which WILL work well as a basecoat on a boat, but you have to be sure to tell the salesperson that you must have a true polyurethane basecoat (one that uses an iso catalyst rather than a 'reactive reducer' or some such). They might look at you funny and ask something like "golly, why would anyone want to spray poyurethane as a basecoat when our Super 7000 basecoat paint is so much cheaper?" Don't listen, you know what you want ;)
