Boat design using solids

Are there softwares specific to boat design that handle solids at the level of Pro/E or Catia? Does anyone have experience interfacing between boat design softwares and these more mechanical engineering oriented CADs? Do boat designers use a separate CAD to design mechanical systems and hardware?
