There was sure something about ferrocement that got the creative juices flowing. Not the ferrocement has an exclusive on bad boats, but by God, it sure has a running start.

I wonder if the vacant lots of harbor communities will ever be free of these works of art? They are so "well built" they are very expensive to break up for the junk yard.

I think its so sad that peoples love and hard work along with hours of dedication end up in the corner unfinished and abandoned. It is a kind of art as it tells a story.

I saw such a place once in Perth,-- A smallish yard by the side of a river. It had many of these abandoned projects in all materials. Rusted Roberts in long grass were every where. It was know locally as the "Grave yard of dreams"

Jack,

There was a similar place on Terminal Island in Los Angeles-Long Beach harbor that many called "Trimaran City". There were acres and acres of projects "under-constuction" or abandoned. Many had become full time residences of the builders with shacks built under and around them. Few boats ever saw the water. I believe it was cleared and paved over for a container terminal.

Kind of sad.

Nice post Jelfiser,
that boat is truly bizare.
That green and black wavey decal on the side....?
and the windows?

In contrast to the last boat though, if one were to fall off this one in the night, you could probably just 'dolphin swim' up onto the deck without even the use of ones arms:p

However, for ugliness, I think the boat in the background takes the cake.

Unfortunate marketing name, but a reasonable, compact tunnel design for thin water fishing.

The backwater Bubba's in the USA have a quirky sense of humor about how they approach their home brewed products. This company name is probably a big hit in local circles.

I think that there should be a special rule in force on that boat that all communication between skipper and crew must be in verse, like this:

"The anchor, the anchor, hoist it up now!
Winch it clear to the top of the bow!...

I'll hoist your darn anchor, yes hoist it I will,
Then with the tootle-y tiller I'll till!

:D :D :D

Without getting too over the line on this... This boat has more than a hint of a WWII B-29 bomber in its design cues and I kinda find that very weird. Especially when you consider the fact that the B29 was the type used to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki. pic below

If you wanted to maintain the retro bomber theme, it could easily pass for just about any of the very cool bombers of the day that had all those windows around the nose.

Still, it is pretty interesting design for what is probably a commuter launch or sightseeing boat.

The glass boat is the Himiko Water Bus and it was designed by MATSUMOTO Leiji. He is a famous anime cartoonist who created the series, "Galaxy Express 999"

The bus is run around the harbor as well as up the Sumida River in the heart of Tokyo.

at the end it seems that's beautifull what we like
someone says everything comes from the nature is beautiful and optimizing , keep essencial make usefull boat and good looking .
however a boat may be a compromise with costs, material ,time, knowledge and may be difficult create somewath also good loking, but we can recognize and have to apreciate an easy and simple good job .
The absurd is when someone spend lots of money with things useless or dangerous or totally nonsense ...that was what i wanted to focus with that formum : what every designer should never do in design !!!
is difficolt to find rich and beautiful woman but why chose a poor and ugly one???
i hope everyone reading never find picture of his boat/design there :p

We love shooting marinas and in doing so have seen many wrecked and abandon boats, but as far as we know we have yet to see such a ugly boat that is still afloat. As for being on land I have seen a fantasy boat that was destroyed prior to being foreclosed on the loan.

A couple of more views including the bow - the thing I need to remember is that as rough as this boat looks - it was properly licensed in the state and someone was going cruising on it - to them it was "the right boat" - a friend saw a person living aboard a West Wright Potter on the hook in the San Juan Islands - so different boats for different folks.
