I know a source near Port Townsend WA that has several logs of old growth (over 150 year old) western red cedar and a small amount of curly maple. I have seen this wood and it is beautiful. Some has already been sold to instrument makers for violins, and he sold one cedar log to a Korean buyer for use in building temples. I can put you in touch with this person. Negotiations are up to you. I have no financial interest in this. Just trying to help out a relative.

The wood or the relative?

Seriously, no, the wood has not been sold. I have given my brother the names of a couple of parties that expressed an interest. I was up at the Wooden Boat Fest yesterday and scouted out two people who said they were interested. So I think he will get around to contacting them sometime this week, but he's retired like me, and time has a way of slipping by.

Ike,
I live just south of Port Townsend, and I'm interested in Red Cedar for strip planking.
Is there a number where I can contact them?
