Hi guys, im new here.

little bit of background info, i bought a 17' Ring powercraft back in november, didnt use it until late april this year, basically the engine was knackered. that probem is sorted and i now have a newer one which has ben fully refurbed and i have just finished running it in. then i had a fuel tank roblem, someone had used silicone to seal the tank and this was getting in my fuel lines and causing major problems.

now my latest problem is a wheel bearing one, buit that should all be sorted by tomoz evening :D

I also suspect i have a hole/crack in the bottom of my boat. 1 of the riubber rollers split on the last journey, resulting in the V of the boat sittng on a metal bar and now there is water dripping down the bracket, e.g only place it culd have comefrom is inside the boat.

this concerns me on two accounts,

1, there is a hole in my boat (very bad for obvious reasons)

2, the section of boat that the water would be coming from shouldnt have any water in there, e.g should be sealed

whats the best plan of action on this guys? i am good at DIY and willing to give it a bash myself :D

I shall try and get pictures up tomorrow.

cheers, tim.

You should make some kind of inspection hatch, to dry it out and to get a look inside.
If the boat is very cheap and you only want to keep it for a few years, maybe filling it with foam is an option?
Otherwice, find the hole and fix it :-)
Maybe just as easy to cover the whole outside with a new layer of glass?

Cheers mate, iv been reading afew articles in various places on the net, which suggest the proper way to fix it would be to cut an inspection hatch in the floor and seal it from the inside, as you suggest.

but like you guessed, it isnt an expensive boat and i do only plan on keeping it for 2 years max, would glassing over the hole and then gel coating over the glass be sufficient do you think?

the trailer is on axle stands at the moment awating some welding work before i can put the wheels back on, but when they are on i will wheel it into the garage, hoist the front up and manovere the rollers around slightly as to reveal the extent of the damage, and also get some pictures up.

from what i can see at the moment, it is only going to be a small crack.

how would i go about filling the inside with foam? other than cutting an inspection hatch in the floor?

cheers, tim
