This isn't exactly restoration, but hopefully it will delay restoration. I'm considering buying a very pretty 12 ft copper-rivetted cedar clinker rowboat, built as a scale replica of a 16th century Spanish surfboat.

If I do this, I'll be keeping it under shelter but out of the water. How difficult is it to keep a wooden boat from self-destructing by drying out on the one hand, or rotting out on the other? What do I need to do?

Keep it covered, don't let dirt and detritus lay in the bilges, keep it well-supported, maintain its finish, and don't let water lay in it and it should last for a hundred years or so.
