Solid Strakes or Leave Hollow?

I'm restoring a 22 foot powerboat. I am currently pulling out the rotten stringers. I have two strakes on each side of the hull. Is there any advantage to filling the strakes solid with thickened epoxy? Or, is there any reason not to besides the extra weight?

Fill with cheap bodyfill and one layer of glass over. It will add a small amount of strength. It will also give you an added amount of protection if you rub through the bottom strake. ie( leak). They (strakes) seem to be the first areas to be damaged.
