Hello, just wondering if this is truly roving woven. This roll was free and wanted to use it to glass in stringers and to coat the floor and up the sidewalls 4". Thanks.

If it is old stuff and it looks like it may be,try drying it or airing it .All glass has capillary action and can suck up to its own weight in water,it will affect the key,and wet out with resin .
Thanks for the replies. As far as drying/airing it would you suggest cutting what I need then hang it to let it air dry?
Is that stuff actually intended for used in a heat insulation system?
It was being used to join 24"+ fiberglass pipe together for a cooling tower project.

Yes air it in the lengths you intend to use the following day or so.If the sun is out hang it on the line, providing it keeps its shape.otherwise lay it on hard standing .If its cold where you are use your ingenuity and find a warm cupboard,The stuff will then be as good as new. When you get to wetting it out with resin your preparation will pay off.
Maybe you have one very expensive woven silica cloth there. Better check whether it can be used for boat construction.:)
Thanks for the replies. Ari what would make you think it is woven silica cloth?
The detail picture thumbnail shows the kind of golden shine that looks like the stuff for high temperature insulation pillow - e.g. gas turbine insulation. They are good stuff but I'am not sure about the character if it is utilised in the water. The woven or Dyna cloth for boat construction did not produce that kind of golden hue.
My wife was cropping the pictures from the boat and highlighted the pic and it gives the pics a yellow tint. The fabric was being used on fiberglass water pipe for a cooling tower. I believe the guys were using a form of MEK, with whatever resin. Dont know what kind.

That might be kevlar woven roving as well. Or could be old e-glass woven that has gotten wet at some point and time which I wouldn't suggest using. I've never seen a good way to dry glass out after its gotten wet, and wouldn't trust it myself where secondary bond and high strength / flex would be a big concern. At the very least I would run some tests with it and try an peel it up afterwards, or just wet it out and see what type of saturation your getting. If the your wetting it out and you are seeing white colored areas that the resin doesn't seem to penetrate, chances are it got wet and shouldn't be used.
