Hey everyone, just a quick question. Ive been useing maxsurf here at school for quite sometime now and still no one seems to be able to put their finger on this one. In maxsurf what exactly is the defferance in adding a surface vs. added a shape? Thanks is andavce for any input on this one! ~dan

The difference is that adding a surface adds a single surface from a list of choices in a menu. This function is customisable so that you can design a template surface (e.g. a keel) and add it to the Add Surface menu list for future use as a standard surface.

Add shape just covers a set of commonly used primitives (sphere, hemisphere, box etc.) that need multiple surfaces to construct a fully closed object. The Add Shape menu also allows you to choose size and rotation, and even symmetry properties, prior to the shape being added.

Because of the additional level of detail required, the Add Shape command can't be added to in the same way that Add Surface can.

Hope this explains things.
