shorter tiller -same power -more room

to mesure the "arm" of a tiller mesure from the grip point to the closest part of the rudderstock. if the rudderstock is angled bottom forward the distance will be less than the tiller length.
if the tiller was atached at a right angle to a "tiller shaft" conected to the rudderstock via universal joint we would now have the diference as extra "arm" and have more power at the same tiller length or the same power with more space.
this came to me the other day, has anyone heard of or seen such a rig? and i am for hire. mindsailingscott@hotmail.com

What is the universal joint for? The arm is measured at 90 degrees from the axis. However the shorter arm will have less leverage.

notice the universal makes the tiller length the "arm" where as without the universal the "arm" is the distance from tiller end to the closest part of the rudder shaft, less than the tiller length, the more slope to the rudder stock the greater the difference, so again more power or a shorter tiller, thanks for the response, hope this clears it up for you, im still for hire. mindsailingscott@hotmail.com

I'm unclear - is this a finished invention of yours that you're looking for someone to purchase or hire you to develop, or is this something you are just starting to work on that you're looking for feedback on?

I still have no clue of what you are describing. Do you have any photos or drawings? The length of the arm measured at 90 degrees from the axis is the only important measurement as far as torque is concerned. Universal joints can't acomplish anything that I can see.
