Theres that famous pic of a Marquis that blew a front strap, and you see the bow cleaving the water with a guy on the stern

I saw a movie online a couple years ago, a yacht is being lifted on the slings.

You see the engines and drives falling through the hull, and the whole boat literally breaks into pieces and disintegrates.
Methinks it was a balsa cored yacht and quite saturated.

After the splashes and drama, all there is left is a whack of tiny pieces of boat, pieces of wood, clothes, and pillows floating around.

Not on youtube.

It really is reassuring that sailboats have keels between those slings.
On the bright side, if the boat survived the drop intact, it might do well dropping off a wave too. Maybe all boats should be drop tested?

I have heard from those that know that lifting with 2 cranes is not correct.

The clip shows that one driver lowered the sling on his crane only, causing the sling to slide. You can hear some one shouting.

I have a friend who lost his yacht in exactly the same way, using 2 cranes. One crane followed him into the sea falling on top of his yacht.

I am not a crane driver but I can't see why it should be so iffy. But it would seem common sense to keep both cranes synchronized.

If the cranes were not big enough and 2 was necessary a spreader frame arrangement should have been used.

This isn't a video about why you don't use two cranes. This is a video about why you don't use two cranes with poor communication and control.

At least it is one way to test if your new boat self rights.
