Which Wooden Boat Should I Build

Spent the last couple of weeks looking at wooden boat designs. I want to build a Sportfisher or Crusier in the 25' to 30' range. A strong boat, that can handle rough conditions, but still get me where I'm going.

Even though I am building the boat for myself, I'm still interested in resale value at the end of the project. I may want to build more than one.

Some of the boats I'm looking at are:

1.) Phantam 27
2.) Jack Tar 26
3.) Islander 25
4.) Gung Ho 28
5.) Escapade 26 Fly Bridge
6.) Crown Crusier 26
7.) Catalina Express 27
8.) Black Crown 30
9.) Carolina Sportfish Cabin 26
10.) Calypso 27
11.) Bel Air Express 26 Fly Bridge

All the above boats are available in kit form. I will probably be buying fastening, epoxy and fiberglass and hardwood framing, (if spec'd),
packages from the designer. I don't think I want to go with a pre-cut plywood package. Both for cost and quality reasons.

Has anyone had any experience with or knowledge of any of these designs. I would appreciate any kind of feedback, good or bad.

Any suggestions regarding sportfish or crusier construction, particularly in regard to putting together a complete materials list. Particularly, the work between hull and cabin completion and ready for launch, including engine(s), fuel and water systems, electrical, electronics, appliances, hardware and fixtures and everything else not listed.

Are any of these sub-systems offered in or with packages?
How accurate a cost projection can I expect to come up with, before construction begins?

Thank you

I would suggest that you post your questions in the "Designs" section of the WoodenBoat Forum at www.woodenboat.com There are lots of experienced and opinionated home-builders there, and a few professionals, too. A warning, though; be wary of the "Misc. Non-Boat Related" section; there are some rude and nasty participants in there making flame wars of politics, war, and personal insults. The rest of the place is fine.
