Wind Power

ABC News Video:
http://gmy.news.yahoo.com/v/7891730/...9_wn_wind_town

I saw a congress man from the mid-west on C-Span the other day talking about wind and solar power, the old dude was totally geeked about it. Explained that Germany and Spain don't have as much wind and sun as we do and that it's going to create a lot of jobs. Plus private land owners can get in on it and make money too.

That Gary Numan song "Wind Power" is in my head now.

Sounds like another boondoggle to make a few politically connected "friends" money from the taxpayers by using non-viable technology.

If this was really economically viable, than a start-up could make money by selling wind or solar power without tax money from the government. There will be private investors financing such a project. But these things usually amount to using the current hot-topic to funnel tax revenue into some cronies bank account under the guise of a demonstration project. This technology has been around for a long time now, and no one has ever turned a profit from it, so why should we waste our taxes on it? Just to create jobs? the taxes to support it kill jobs in legitimate private sector companies (doing something useful).

Unfortunately if you dig deeper into this you will find it is just another pork-barrel project that benefits very few and bamboozles the taxpayers. If this was actually viable you do not need tax money to do it.

I am sorry if I come across as skeptical, it comes from long experience with such issues. Why would politics be behind it if this was a good deal for the taxpayer? As if he actually cared about our power supply? Hah!

There must be hundreds of these wind-powered generators near me. I thought these were all privately owned. And, yup, the landowners get rent.

Fantastic stuff? Well yes it works, but maybe not as good as the stuff in use at the moment; however the way things are going soon they may not be a choice!! Once America has used all the oil reserves up in the world with no thought of conservation (there's non no blind as them as will not see) just maybe they will turn to those of us using alternative technoligies and ask (what the good old USof A ask? must be joking) for some help! Won't give any of course but they will take everything they can - true there are some forward looking Americans, and others who are slowly getting these things together, and one day it may be as good as what we're losing, but not just yet eh! In the meantime you just go on ahead take all you want, you will anyway! Doubt if you will take the blinkers off and actually see the mess your making of the world!!

Bugger the climate change - that's going to happen anyway! But the polution CAN be altered!! Actually theguys I really feel sorry for are the few outstanding guys in your country who CAN see further than the end of the street -they really are banging their heads against a wall!!
