Bruce, every once and a while someone gets lucky. This doesn't mean that the houseboat in particular is sea worthy, it just means they got lucky. In fact, I'd bet they didn't get lucky and the boat was freighted or towed. This wouldn't be the first tall tail from the mouth of a sailor . . . Yea, I suspect the poster is a kid. They clearly aren't very inexperienced, which is a detriment to getting a real grip, on the realities of life aboard a yacht. I've lived aboard many times and made several long passages. Experiences is the key to a sailor's desires, needs and preferences. Maybe they can go without a galley (duh), but my experience tells me they need to get a clue first, which requires experience.

the truth Par, the boat is a little strange, but I have stayed on it and it is better than first impressions. Check out the web site- it explains a lot, and yes it did make the crossing, but very slowly. One of the original pilots is a friend of mine, we used to take my plane down to the islands to sail his boat that he keeps at Green Turtle. I love the area. I think D smart is trying to rock our boat B

I'd forgotten that line you're now using as a signature Boat fan. Lets see if I remember the context though, if memory serves me someone was looking to build a clipper or pirate ship reproduction and was asking for budget or plans or structural help. I thought this so "out of reality" that I asked the question above. How close did I get? Yes, I'm bored at the mo (moment?). I've been sick, spent a few nights in the hospital, then got out just to break my shoulder a few days later. I can't do anything and am pretty helpless. If it wasn't for beer . . .

I think it's Richard having fun. Next he'll insist on a 25' trailer sailor with shoal draft, standing headroom and an aft cabin.
