Where is this Then it must be Aegina in the Saronic Gulf. According to mythology, Aegina was a beautiful princess with whom Zeus fell in love with. In order to be alone with her, he took her to this uninhabited island, and they had a son, Aeacus, who became the first king. Quoting from the Island Tourist Bureau: 'An interesting fact about the island is that the first coins of the western world were made here in the 7th century BC.' Aegina also holds the villa where Nikos Kazantzakis the editor of Zorba the Greek*lived for some years. ![]()

Now you go it! I've been there and got a full lot of urchin spines in my feet when coming ashore at a rocky spot after some swimming. Not a very nice keepsake for the next couple of weeks....the vengeance of Juno! (Attached image is not from my foot, but it looked very much like that)More info on beautiful Aegina island. The beautiful naiad nymph Aegina (or Aigina or Egina) was the cause of Sisyphos eternal punishment: "Sisyphos is punished in Haides’ realm by having to roll a stone with his hands and head with the intents of pushing it over the top; but, though he keeps pushing, it always rolls back down. He suffers this punishment because of Asopos’ daughter Aigina. For when Zeus secretly made off with her, Sisyphos is said to have informed Asopos, who was searching for her." - Apollodorus, The Library 1.85

Where is this Southern hemisphere. Popular tourist area for Aussies. This year if you take away two you'll get a clue.

2007 take away two is 2005 the only thing that happened then (of interest) was the Trafalgar bicentennial - I doubt if it's that! Looks like the Walrus has got it wrong again, and stuffed up the clue! Probably nearer Bali I'd say - few Aussies have been known to go there, occasionally!

| Beautiful scenery, and I know I've seen this before, but I can't find it now. Wynand, you might be right, although it could be in Indonesia (That covers a lot of territory!). Frustrating!! ![]()

Where is this OK Rus - something more in your line. Two views, one northern and one southern hemisphere. And the triple 'whammie' - which character links them. Long John Silver's use of a diminutive may - or may not help. Been to both. Great pub - 'The Cod and Lobster' in one of them. Awful smell in the other. Three answers needed. ![]()
