You're spot on, Phil. Halos are caused by ice crystals, not rain drops. This right infralateral arc was matched by a left infralateral arc. When I took the photo I didn't notice what you called a sundog (another type of halo) in the upper edge. However, directly beneath the sun, and between the two infralateral arcs, there was a sundog and a segment of a 22° halo. In looking again at the first photo I posted I'm now wondering if the sundog you noticed also had a portion of a parahelic circle extending off to the right of the sundog?

Now I'm just trying to figure out exactly where the photo was taken. Colarado plateau, south of the river, I think. How far from the town of Lee's Ferry? (had to work a boat in somehow:))

I had no idea there were so many different sorts of halo, and their formation is fascinating.
I've been immersed in Les Crowley's atmospheric optics many many pages on halos for a couple of hours now...

    check
    check
On Utah State Rt 95, a dozen miles south of the Hite Crossing Bridge over the Colorado River. So, upstream from Lee's Ferry about 100 miles (as the crow flies).

A request from the Random Picture Thread . . .

    OK, there you go . . .
They're on the IJsselmeer, just west of Workum, in the background you see the Lighthouse of Workum (sort of translation)

P.S. - For more detail, here's a bigger version of the top picture with also a larger cut that shows the whole boat.

Flyer I & II were built by Royal Huisman Shipyard in Vollenhove which is a different place than Workum. Workum and Vollenhove were once both at the Zuiderzee coast. The places are still at the same location, but Workum is now at the IJsselmeer and Vollenhove is now almost landlocked as the 1st link shows. Royal Huisman had to sponsor a wider bridge in the Vollenhover channel to make it possible for their ships to reach open water.

P.S. - Vollenhove is on the east side on the map below, Workum is not shown but it's just north of Stavoren, the green is new land.

The green broadleaves triggered me it was not snow, and at a closer look the white looked like a lot of cobweb, so . . . :)
