Yes, but only when fishing!

Below no snare around the base of the bird's throat. The snare is to prevent the birds from swallowing larger fish only when working and even then smaller fish can be swallowed.

Wikipedia photo's from Lake Erhai near Dali, Yunnan.

Cheers!

Well I only know the places I've been.

I first visited Guillin in the late 70's on advice from my Godmother who had managed to continue her research into the geomorphology of the area undisturbed by the cultural revolution. Even the Revolutionary Guards knew they had met their match in a slightly batty (and extremely well connected) old English women.

This is my challenge:

Aah, not enough time - got to go!
Northern Europe, best guess one of the estuaries on the south coast of Devon or Cornwall, but can't pick it out.

In that case it could be anywhere.........................

Just an example that was February 24, 2010 in the news: (the original article is in the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten)

‘‘ 511 seamen lost permission to sail on Norwegian-registered ships last year; an increase of 20 percent in two years. A regulation introduced in 2001 stipulates a maximum Body Mass Index (BMI) of 35 . . . . . . . overweight is one of the three main reasons for being denied a ship’s job. ’’

But maybe Crag just crossed the channel.............(tidal, hilly pic)............. ??

Anyway, I'm not permitted this round so good luck to you all....

Cheers!
Angel

PS
a USAnian.

Lot's of beer bellies in North America too. How many people you want to antagonize? Gees, Whoosh, many German-Americans including my family stood by Britain against Hitler. Many good Germans also. Please be nice!

The photo was taken last year and although the tug looks fairly ancient, it's in keeping with the general feel of this 'capital' city.

my thoughts;

Looking at the wharf there should be a hefty tidal rise and fall. And all the sail boats in the picture look to be in the 20ft range....

This can only mean UK - perhaps somewhere in Scotland? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Paris? Non.

From right to left in the photograph we have:
A Ro Ro ferry terminal
An old fashioned tug and barge but the locals think it looks bang up to date.
A row of elegant houses suggesting the place did or does have lots of wealthy people.
However the majority of the boats on the swinging mooring are little Sonatas.

Other clues from before

A European capital city.
Neither EU or UK.
