Hong Kong yes. Kai Tak airport has shocked more people than any real catastrophe I´m sure. Landing in Kai Tak was always a real nightmare, even for the frequent flyers and the pilots too.

read: http://www.swiremariners.com/kt13.html

and look: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sourc...6y5EHAo5qRsfrA

or google Kai Tak approach

I have landed at that airport several times in the past. Was quite fun. I recall almost being able to read the newspaper print of an old chap sat in his apartment reading the daily, as we came into land...was that close!!!

Or is it the East Ground, where a U-boat met its fate?

From my friend Mr Google:

German Submarine Driven onto Goodwin Sands by HMS Gypsy & 3 Ramsgate Smacks
probably 1917
German accounts of this 1917 event state that during midnight operations, submarine U-48 ran aground on the dangerous Goodwin Sands and was found the next dawn by destroyer HMS Gypsy and several armed drifters. The title Dawson gives his etching gives the British ships a less opportunistic and more actively defensive role.

The very place!

Interesting shoal these Goodwin sands.
An island submerged? They have a particularly shifting nature and are known as the "ship swallower".

Warned of by lighthouses built since the Roman times.

This submarine U-48, is seen from time to time as the sands shift.

This was a quickie here.

We had the Goodwin Sands already mentioned here, though just in one sentence:

And another nice reading:

Ok, ready again.
Let me take my previous turn.
What's its name and where is this fort?

Clue: A 22 m motor cruiser I designed was built at the boatyard close to it in the image.

Cheers.

Silencio completo?

My guess would of course be Spain, probably the north west, maybe somewhere in Gallia?

I scanned the entire northern coast of Spain and found it not.
