Neither miracles nor the appearance of a miracle in Basel.

Basel is farther away from it than Stuttgart.

I'm taking your clues seriously Charlie. A miracle you say...Now I believe the battle of Belleau Wood (WWI) was considered a 'miracle' (and it spawned the US Marine Corps). And the nearest piece of navigable water is the Marne...so could it be Bonneuil-sur-Marne. But Bonneuil has a link to that dreadful place with a copy of the Statue of Liberty and a copy of the Blackpool Tower, much frequented by Americans (a miracle in itself considering the state of public toilets) Paris ?

Meanwhile (and I know I'm jumping the gun and will bring Raggi's Norse wrath down on my head..so promise not to open them until Charmc's offer is solved)...
An easy one...(pic 1) and I've blocked out the easiest clue of all. And a not so easy one.(pic 2) Clue is that Walrus may find it easy, and he'd be a 'little rat' to give it away.

One more hint: this inland port city became very famous in the last century for 3 major happenings, two of which were variations of the same thing.

The statue in the background reminds me of Le Corbusier, if that's any help...

Walking on water...'Frozen River?'; three miracles...Survival and eventual winding back of invaders (WWII) - but what was a nice American boy doing in Stalingrad

The prize (if there were one ... which there isn't ) goes to Raggi!!

"American Jonathan Borofsky's 100ft aluminium creation in Berlin near the middle of the River Spree. It consists of 3 Molecule Men coming together in the middle, appearing to be walking on water. Completed in 1997 for the new Allianz Corporation headquarters in Berlin" Berlin Travel Guide

Here's another view of the statues that appear to be walking on water. The 3 real miracles, of course, were the Airlift, and the erection and the teardown of the Berlin Wall.

Congratulations Raggi, and if I may say so you have the grace and manners of a true Highland Gentleman. It makes me suspect the Viking conquest of the Western Isles was not all one way....

And Lazeyjack (pic 2) - Cornwall it is. But where, what 'port' ? Though I suspect with your remark you already know...
