The Duchess of Albany, bay of Policarpo, 13. July 1893 Fireland. The figurehead showing the Helene von Waldeck Pyrmont, the "Duchess of Albany" was salvaged in the 1970ies and is exhibited in the Museo del Fin del Mundo, in Ushuaia.
The vessel was under way fro Rio to Valparaiso under Captain John Wilson.

Well, I have my doubts Raggi! I know the wreck, it was still visible in 1993 exactly hundred years after stranding, I was very impressed.
Some interesting reading about the area:http://www.rism.org/chapman/clash2.htm

Loch Ken, a fine little barque of 590 tons, built in 1869? Parmelia?

I thot that it was going to be too easy!
Where the heck is this wreck? Waxing a bit poetic here...more like a limerick, actually.
Raggi_Thor is getting warm.
The captain wasn't in the "Wright" spot on this one.
Guillermo has the "bark" right. Find the mascot and you've found the bark.
Storm waves were too intense to even launch a surfboat, a line with a sling attached (a breeches buoy) was made fast to the vessel, and crew of 14, the wife and child of the steward, and a Newfoundland dog were brought safely ashore.
Extensive preparations were made to refloat her, but heavy gales in July ended the effort. The wreck was burned to make salvaging the metal bits easier...
How many more clues?

Disoriented in a heavy fog, those onboard thot that they were offshore. A surfman caught a glimpse of the ship and tho they couldn't hear him yelling to them, he went for help. When he returned, the ship was not immediately visable, but what a relief for the crew (not necessarily the owner!) when the fog lifted.

The crazy thing is that the ship was built, then grounded, before the apparent namesake was born.
