Frosty: sounds like you had a lot more fun than I did. Just kidding mes amis. Actually I had a great time in France the first time, took the missus and arrived a few days early and did the scene as they say. After that it was all bloody hard work, 80 hour working weeks for months, mostly because I was a N. American committed to a schedule and the French have another approach to life entirely. I still wonder if they were laughing at me. The best part was buying a bottle of vin ordinaire at the works canteen for lunch; they do have a few things to teach les autres.

Too true, - ancient, - - even in New Caledonia and Vanuatu the ladies have a certain "style" and vin ordinaire is almost standard at lunch - AND a civilised 2 hours for lunch & "a nap" ....

I hate Paris, I went for a job and stayed next to Air Africa near the Chandelise( spelling) I got the job in 20 minutes and had to wait a weekend to get back to Manchester. I tried to walk to Charles de Gaul airport walking along the river bank passing Notradame, yes I know it is a long way ,about 20Km. I didnt have any money left after donating it to a night club.

I got taxi in the end and slept in the airport till Monday.

I nearly starved to death in the streets all I could do was point at a sandwich and grunt holding out money. Should have kept the croissant I gave to the rat.

You stayed near the Champs Elyses and went to a night club instead of the Louvre. This only 20 minute stroll from the Opera, and just over the river you could see original Renoirs! Or stroll down to the Eiffel Tower, see the Memorial ... splutter ...

You'll get no sympathy from me mate!

To be honest it was a while ago. But yes I remember walking by the Eiffel tower. I was so hungry I could'nt think straight.

Its not like they have fish and chip shops or sell jellied eels. All they eat is foreign muck, and frogs legs,--dirty bastards.

As I was walking across the bridge over the river near the Eiffel tower this person walking towards me had a funny look on his face and said excuse me do you know where( something) was,--in English. Being prepaired for him to speak I said without thinking, " I don't speak French" to which he replied "oh sorry"
As we walked away from each other we both looked around confused at what had just happened . Ist that weird?

"The Last Time I saw Paris", Van Johnson, Roger Moore, Eva Gabor ... but I digress. Not like me at all.

TLTISP there were 35 MacDonald's. Got to be a lot more by now. Frugal McDugal managed to adhere to their worldwide low standards even in Paris. That's quality control for you.

Frosty, considering that the comment Frugal McDugal was made by a Canadian, I take it that they view MacDonalds food portions as too small.

I know a few Canadians and, Boy, can they pack it away.

TLTISP = The Last Time I saw Paris

Considering what is probably in them any MacDonalds food portion is too large, but I thought Frugal McDugal sounded nicer than the usual Rotten Ronnie's.

I saw some cars in France a few years ago, there are probably several more by now. Where there are cars there are parking problems; the French solve that by never parking, just keep driving around the block faster and faster, always ignoring traffic from the left no matter how suicidal that gets. French traffic laws favour the half-blind.

I had fun in Germany, got to admit it, but I learned the hard way not believe anything that is said in a business environment until it is written down and signed, maybe not even then. American businessmen have far better ethics; that was a big surpise to me given the rep that the US has.

The dirtiest place I ever visited was Tokyo, the open sewer outside my expensive strictly-for-westerners hotel was stomach-turning.

My favourite city is still San Diego. Always and forever. Dublin a close second.
try the SHERITON , on shelter island, the food is world class in the restaurant on top, strange for a hotel, remember the wine waiter helped me, I was a kid and green, and a lady played the harp there, yes Diago a nice place, well on the seabord anyways, far from worlds best tho old son

Frosty, Frosty! Did you forget to clean the can opener after you used it to scrape the cat's litter tray?
